EVENT DESCRIPTION

The National Police Accou ntability Project (NPAP) will host a two-d ay intensive training in Austin\, Texas on October 8–9\, 2026\, focused on building civil rights cases against state and federal law enforcement. Attendees may participate in person or virtually.

\n \n

Sessions will cover the fundamentals of Section 1 983 litigation\, bringing claims against ICE and o ther federal law enforcement officers under the Fe deral Tort Claims Act (FTCA)\, and practical strat egies for investigating and developing civil right s cases. The curriculum will build on NPAP's previ ous bootcamps\, with additional focus on issues an d strategies relevant to practitioners and communi ties in Texas and the surrounding region.

Audience & Learning Goals

\n \n

Designed for attorneys who are newer to p olice misconduct and civil rights litigation\, the training will provide practical tools for identif ying actionable misconduct\, developing claims\, a nd strengthening litigation strategies. Legal work ers\, law students\, and advocates working alongsi de impacted communities are also encouraged to att end.
