EVENT DESCRIPTION

The National Police Accou ntability Project (NPAP) will host a two-d ay intensive training in Austin\, Texas on October 8–9\, 2026\, focused on building civil rights cases against state and federal law enforcement. Attendees may participate in person or virtually.

\n \n

Sessions will cover the fundamentals of Section 1 983 litigation\, bringing claims against ICE and o ther federal law enforcement officers under the Fe deral Tort Claims Act (FTCA)\, and practical strat egies for investigating and developing civil right s cases. The curriculum will build on NPAP's previ ous bootcamps\, with additional focus on issues an d strategies relevant to practitioners and communi ties in Texas and the surrounding region.

Priority registration is for residents of Texa s\, Oklahoma\, and New Mexico.

Audience & Learning Goals

\n \n

De signed for attorneys who are newer to police misco nduct and civil rights litigation\, the training w ill provide practical tools for identifying action able misconduct\, developing claims\, and strength ening litigation strategies. Legal workers\, law s tudents\, and advocates working alongside impacted communities are also encouraged to attend.

This training is limited to individu als based in Texas\, Oklahoma\, New Mexico\, or Ar kansas\, as well as practitioners who represent cl ients or take cases in one or more of these states .
