Trial Tales: Securing a $360K Excessive Force Verdict with Shannah Kurland

Please join us for NPAP's next Trial Tales CLE featuring Shannah Kurland as she discusses her recent win in Rodrigues v. Dolan, an excessive force case out of the District of Rhode Island. Shannah's case involved minimal physical injuries, dismissed claims, a significant history of misconduct by the defendant officer, and supporting a client that has experienced severe trauma throughout their life. Learn how Shannah overcame these issues to secure a great result for her client. 

ABOUT the SPEAKER(S)

Shannah Kurland
Shannah Kurland has been an attorney since 2014, with a primary focus on civil rights litigation.  Before becoming an attorney, she worked for decades as an organizer, director, and trainer, primarily with community groups challenging state violence and racial oppression in its economic, social, and political forms.  She is of counsel with Sinapi Law Associates where she represents clients in employment and discrimination matters as well as Section 1983 police misconduct cases in federal and state courts.  In 2021 Shannah had the honor of being described as “public enemy number one” by members of the Providence Police Department, the city she has called home for the past forty years.  She is working to become a better gardener, and family and community member while learning about the cognitive and physical effects of aging.

ACCREDITATION

This event is accredited for 1.5 general credit hours with the State Bar of California (NPAP is a multiple activity provider with the State Bar of CA).

Most attendees should be able to self-report for CLE credit to their own state bars, and in instances where a state bar requires that the event sponsor report on behalf of attendees, NPAP is happy to assist.

RECORDING

The event will be recorded and the recording will be available to attendees after the event. However, attendees will only be elligible for CLE credit for the portions of the event that they attended live. Retroactive viewing of recordings will not be elligible for CLE credit, as NPAP does not have a means of validating attendee participation in this circumstance.
